A fun morning picnic by the reservoir

Picnic at our favourite hanging spot the Upper pierce reservoir...

Jared has been talking about going to see monkey, and I wanted very much to take pics of the kids sitting on our table cloth picnic...hee..Cos I saw from forum babies sit on greens at the park, and pictures of them sit on bright color picnic mat...Then daddy told me that its the same pattern and color as our table cloth..hehe..But daddy very much resisted having food at the reservoir. Cos the last time we went, it was so crowded there..and we were the only family eating there..somemore ta pau food..

This wk it started a little rain when I went chong pang market to tapau food. Luckily it stop when we reached there..and not so crowded too.

So we had so many pretty pictures!

Her crawling forward is slow...and steady..hehe..I remembered Jared could only crawl forward at 9mth+...Kaylen 6mth+ already started crawling forward...

Hmmm...the kettle is really obvious...and when I asked

Mommy: What did you draw Jared?
Jared: a normal kettle lah and a mouse. *pointing to the handle*
Mommy:*Scratching head where where?*

After he drawn the kettle yesterday, today he asked to bath 3x, cos he wanna play with the kettle after we all compliments his drawing..hehe..

Thankfully the cheapest ABC shop sell watercolor at 90cents per set and drawing book at $1..so he get to indulge in water color drawing everyday..if using those ex brand like crayola..heart pain ah.

Update on Jared 3yr 5mth old

He's slow with academical development mainly cos he is so playful.
Recently he just suddenly got so in love with the leapfrog DVDs which I got him when he was <1yr...So he manage to learn all the phonics sound within 1 wk..and really good in them.

Nowadays he likes to go around asking: Jared: Mummy, Can you guess what sound does the letter U make? Me: boom boom boom.. Jared: no... He has also started to like leapfrog DVD part 2, which tell them how to make words...But since it is quite tough even for us adult to understand phonics..so not much improvement leh. He used to like to be Lao3 he2 wei2 (no study, poor man)...

But ever since we transfered him to TRBK, he always come home wanting to be a teacher..and a Good teacher! So he read more books nowadays, and finally willing to draw properly. See the first ever proper thing that he drawn, unassisted:



It's a tree!...and he used the correct colour for the leaves...I'm so happy!

For sometime he like to draw rainbow, but he will only take out all the marker pens...draw 1st line, and get my mum to complete it..Thats why I say seeing him painting a tree all on his own is such a big achievement.

He prefers water color, marker pen to crayon & colour pencil. Thank fully TRBK use a lot of water color...

His ah yi bought him a vtech laptop for his birthday...am so surprise that he is playing some of the word and shape game really well.


For eg. Word game
1) Whats the first letter of table? Igloo? umbrella? monkey? etc etc
He can get all correctly.

These days when we got home at night, he will be doing scrapbooking with his daddy. ...They will flip through newspaper to find vehicle pictures or any pictures jared likes..Then Jared would cut them out and paste in a book.

-> Vocabulary
I find kids nowadays very lucky..They have much better vocab as compared to us last time since there's so much exposure from tv, cds, games

For eg, I only learn the word accident at P5. But Jared haven't 2 yr old already accident here and there with his car...

His latest word is "presentation" which he learned from the same leapfrog cd. So he will go around and say, I have a presentation today...We are going to do a presentation for Prof Wiggley.

-> Techno savvy

A lot of ppl have problem operating new electronic device or gadget..But our Jared is super zai. He could load/unload camera battery and memory card...turn on and off camera on his own, also take out camera from the pouch and put it back after use. Once I took out the memory card and put into the adaptor, he saw it and wanted to use the camera, he actually plug it out from adaptor and fix it into camera to use it!...I was really shock!

As usual home tv and turning on/off DVD player is nothing to him

And his latest discovery was our laptop...He know how to open up the laptop, turn it on, luckily don know how to key in daddy's password yet...But once you login for him, he know exactly how to move the mousepad and open up his favourite CAR movie folder on the desktop..and choose the part 1/2/3 he wanted to watch..and finally watch it!! hehe..

He handle better with the mousepad on the laptop as compared to the actual mouse...He knows how to close the windows pop out blocking his lighting mcqueen show...he moves the mouse to the X, and click enter. (Thought by daddy)

The east coast trip with our talented photographer

Its been a mth + that we haven't been to east coast...Then on the Good Friday finally we made a trip there. Jared's bike on the extra 2 little wheel has been fixed, but since fixed he didnt dare to cycle on the bike anymore...so everytime we asked if he wanna go beach to cycle...He say.." I want to walk at the beach". Still he couldn't resist cycling..so finally his phobia is overcomed.

Then that day he kee siow...on the way back to car park, he cycle 2 round..stop, and say I want to rest, Can I have some water? ...and after that he would take a pic of us...
So most photos dont have him, only the rest of 3 of us....

All these pics are taken by Jared, very proportionate, and very nicely taken..I only need to adjust some pics brighter...

Ok..these pics are what I took..

Everytime if he refuse to take pic, can always use the same tactic, ask him to hold on something and say...挡注你的脸了！Then he will hold the thing and try to look a bit at the camera...hehe..There at the beach we found the little dried fruit from the trees which he used in US to do this action, he could still remember...hehe

Its very diff to take their pic together..almost impossible nowadays with Jared snatching our camera the moment we take it out...

But 1 night they decided to sit together and sing songs...hehe

Can have good comparison between them like this...Most ppl will say Jared's feature are nicer than Kaylen

Kaylen is 7 month

-> Feeding
Only want and can drink milk when sleepy...when wide awake, she will ahhhh all the way if you try to insert bottle into her mouth...and If i try to latch her, she'll bite me even though she don't have teeth yet!

Drinks about 4oz of milk each time, never increase more than this

-> Physical
Can sit unsupport quite well now
Can crawl forward now...but slow...
First raise her butt super high...then leap like a frog, to move forward.
Trying to learn to sit from lying down, but still not successful yet.

-> Speech
I think much better than Jared at the same time...

Seemed to be allergy to peas, and egg yolk.
I spent much effort to prepare fresh peas for her, open up the pod, and take out the peas. WIth 1 pack of fresh beans, i can only get 3 small cube of peas..Then when she take 1 cube...start rashes all over ...

Egg yolk too..but gonna try again in 1-2wks time.
She get choke with smallest grain...everything for her must be soft and smooth..if not she will merlion..I tend to get a bit phobia feeding her...The best food is probaly rice cereal+ breastmilk. Then only it is smooth enough for her.
She don't like having apple/pear puree on its own, I guess too sweet..can see from her face expression.

-> Weight & height
~8kg...not much gain from 6mth old ...Becos she fall sick and had to see doc at 6mth 3wk old.
She's doing better than Jared, Jared first see doc was at 6mth old.
Shortie, ~64cm only...wonder if my milk lack of calcium?

I just realised Kaylen would smile to the camera everytime we try to snap a pic for her...so cute!

2wks in new school

I think Jared enjoyed the school..it wasn't so hard to wake him up in the morning anymore..he is sleeping earlier about 10.30pm..compare to 11/12am last time..Like to take school bus very much...

The old pap school..I can't stop complaining... The other day we bump into teacher Jay, I was asking Jared to go up and greet the teacher...wah, the teacher saw him, fast fast enter the classroom, and close the door...Aiyo!..real jia lat..

Jared has phobia over the toilet bowl in the pap school, so during bad times, one wk he would pee on his pants for 3 days...my mum went to check once, the toilet bowl stuck, and its too big for him..and most of all teacher don't bother to ask if he need to pee. And pee nevermind, lin lao shi don't even want to change his pants..so he would soak in wet pants, and wet socks and wet shoes till go home..How can???... Haiz...

I think I haven't finish complaining...

The new school...Jared is found to change new attire, even if he just eat messily and dirty some spots of his uniform,...hehe..Once he wet slightly the underwear also got changed. When we went to the school to spot check on the 2nd wk, bump into Mrs Chai, so I asked her how was Jared? She told me , he is ready to join in and do the work now.

Once Jared asked her, No window? (at the hall)...So she went to showed him there's window just that it was covered by the curtain to prevent bright light from coming in. Since then, Jared had never cry again in hall. He's able to put his school bag and water bottle in front of classroom after getting down from bus now.

We were really happy to see it. Although he still look blur all time in school..hehe They would bring them to pee once coming down from assembly, before going home, after arts and craft session. All of them go together..which is very good right? Cultivate the habbit.

Most of all, the school fees are really affordable..$600 for 10 wk...together with the school bus, we pay $300 per mth..for rest of mind..Why not?

Back dated posting for 1 Mar 09

Kaylen started pure rice cereal at 5.5mth, and at exactly 6mth old I let her tasted her first home made apple purree..She hates it when eating apple puree on its own, I guessed its too sweet for her..but if its added with potato+rice cereal she's fine.

Initialy when Jared saw her eating, he would ask for for some to taste....once, he asked to have her pumpkin puree..and eat until like very tasty like that..heheh..

But now after seeing her eating for so long, Jared is no longer interested in her food.

Lagging behind post...The whole of March

I didn't made as many posting in the whole of March as much as the stuff we did...though I would love to keep all the memories...

I'm still lagging behind postings for Kaylen's finals contest pic, our Singapore flyer ride, and we went back to Ritz calton again...also our March zoo trip, and science centre trip...aiyo...so many..

The only thing I'm up to date is Jared's new school experience...hehe
