Special day of many first for Kaylen @5yr 6 mth

1) Fashion show model

Bumped into this Barbie event at United square..Kaylen wanted to try out the fashion show event, so I bought a little Barbie wallet to take part.













2) Riding 2 wheel bike
And then in the evening we didn't let her follow koko for skating class, in exchange she insisted to ride bike..and all of the sudden she could ride the 2 wheel bike!

We had been trying to get her ride on the bike for sometime, but always ended up failing..till last Sun, she managed to make few turn..and today when she got on again...she could do it!!!

Next will be skating..





3) Abacus
So she passed her Grade 6 at 90/100, and Grade 5 80/90, Well done gal! (Jared's G6 at 70/100, G5 30/100)


4) Photoshoot model with GAP, 2 wks ago


2 weeks ago she also get to try out being a photoshoot model at GAP.
We missed the FOX model shoot last week..argh. Just so many happenings at United Square lately.

Kaylen's Toilet washing Experience

Since last week, Kaylen started to help with the toilet bowl washing..and she claimed that it will be her duty from now onwards...and to my surprise when I checked the toilet, it was sparkling clean as she spent a lot of time washing it...

This week she did it again...

And in the evening when she had to pee...she tried to endure it..

Daddy: I thought you want to pee?
Kaylen: but I don't want to dirty my toilet

This is really an extra return..at such young age she learnt that we need to treasure what we work hard..hah.

as for koko..he poo on it..and happily exclaimed: Yeh, I dirtied the toilet!

She is almost completing violin star book 1..playing at the speed of CD..very little sound distortion..I think she is doing really well!..

Feeling guilty that we are not sending her to Mandeville..rather a sch at Whampoa Market...

Update 7-Nov after her regular lesson on 6-Nov

This is what happen in the violin class, after a wk of practice with mummy

Teacher: You never practice with her ah this week?

Daddy: yes, not as much

Teacher: if mummy don’t know, don’t practice. Pick up all the bad habits, next time very difficult to change

*referring to her slanted bow and also did not follow music tempo*

This is so funny, in mummy’s ears she practicing and played well. I thought I can share daddy’s job since I only need to play the CD, and she follow the CD to play..that’s such a significant impact..hehe..

N I also just realised why the pretty hair clips have gone missing from tv console drawer..its also in here.

Jared do not have this habit of keeping stuff..only $/AP he earned in his own drawer.

Such a day to remember..for the 1^st time she was able to finish her own food, and leaving no morsels for me..

She had the Yoshinoya beef bowl adult size.

She only gave me the veges on the bowl

Reading

She has graduated from P&J course, completed Roald Dahl’s The Enourmous Crocodile book.

But she has no interest to continue more on Roald Dahl’s book, so I’ve been borrowing some reading Level 4 book and fairies books from library.

And unlike Jared who had a lot of interest on knowledge books, she does not like any of them..so her general knowledge is definitely limited.

Spelling

We are working on the words from P&J but very slowly…she can spell like 60-70% of words up to P&J 7A

Eg. Train, aunty, holiday, ice cream, children, uncle, 

HYPY

She can read books with HYPY even without us teaching, somehow she figure out based on phonics

TV addict

From Tom& Jerry on you tube, to channel 8 9pm show…she’s a complete addict. If she wasn’t happy, offer her a show at 9pm…she will be all cheer up again! 

Violin

Half way through on violin star book violin 1. She hate practising with daddy..and always fast fast practise with me while daddy not home…

16.5kg and slightly above 100cm…

Not sure how she was doing in Ms Mccully lesson for pre-primary..she definitely enjoy the different ballet steps weekly compared to previous school

She is my best daughter...when I cry, she will be there to cry with me..
When I'm sad, she would tell me jokes about herself to make me laugh..which she hates it at normal times when we laugh at her.

Kaylen's Abacus Exam Result-Her 1st and 2nd 100%

So she got full marks for her 1st 2 exam in her life!

She can earn $20 from waipo..also her 1st earned $...since she has watch koko earning lots of $ from good results from exams..heh.

Yesterday when we just got back from JB, the silly gal and me had this conversation

Kaylen: Mummy did you bring back my abacus book?
Me: No, why?
Kaylen: Harr...still have a lot of pages haven't finish..
Me: its ok its late now, you can do it tomorrow
Kaylen: But tomorrow got lesson, I scared I cannot finish...How about we use calculator?

Then I burst into laughter...and told her that she probaly count faster than she press the calculator!

Jared never had this automatic when come to abacus..he is fine with just doing 30/40 sums out of the 400 sums..and submit to teacher..

So when he got the mental sums cert this year..its really quite a surprise..last year he didn't get it.

Now I told Kaylen to work hard, so that she can bring back the cert every year!

Kaylen's 1st ever Exam-Mental arithmetic Grade 7&8

At K1 4yr 10mth, she had her first ever exam at Sengkang CC for her mental arithmetic Grade 7&8 . Jared had his 1st exam in K2 doing Grade 9. Hmmm..that's how advance Kaylen is without costing a sweat on us..no nagging, no teaching...heh

She was quite confident about it..and let's see how she did..

Reading: read without help for Roald Dahl's Enourmous Crocodile!!! What an achievement.

Exactly at this age, I also introduced Jared this book, But I had to read to him!



Compliments: Her handwriting is really nice..on par with me..so I had always showered her so much compliments till Jared are so used to it.

But after hearing her play the violin, I scolded her stupid..and that drove her mad..so mad that she told waipo the next day, she wanted to swap her mummy away!

I seriously find it so regretful to start her on violin..its really a tough journey...but daddy already said she is much better than koko ..

Abacus: Book 6.
She is going to take level 7&8 arithmetic exam in few weeks time...The only worry probaly is if she can write her name properly.

Somehow she is quite good physically except balancing..so she cannot ride 2 wheel bike, or skate or do scooter. While Jared was the other way round, bad in all physical, but good in balancing...

Kaylen: The little Vainpot & Music class finally

She has been asking for months for the ears to be pierced since Jared was preparing for his May test..she would come to me , After koko finish exam, can we go and punch my ear?

We got it done at B'dazzled..after some research, they have the most hygenic, pierce 2 ears at once..and of cos it also came with price...$150 inclusive of 2 bottle of med..

She did not cry at all...but maybe half hour later she started to feel some pain..and started complaining about it..hehe..

She had her 1st official lesson at Music Key on Wed 12-Jun...So when daddy brought her there, she was asking are they taking car? And got disappointing they have to walk to music school hehe.






Violin at the beginning is the most difficult..and most pek chek...I'm glad I'm not the 1 to go through with them heheh..

Sleeping through in Separate room

Kaylen used to cry only after 5-10min in koko's room together with koko..

Then recently koko was complaining very hard that he do not want to sleep in his own room..so after trade, Kaylen was willing to try to sleep in his room...

1st night she cried half way so badly till wanna vommit.

2nd night, I told her I will open her door room, if she woke up she can come our room.
So she cry a bit standing outside our room

3rd night..she slept through and this is a pic caught at 8am in the morning!..YAH



4th night..She climb to our bed aybe 4-5am...no cry..

Finally...we will be buying a new bed for her to let her sleep with koko...

Looking forward to the day where I've finally shifted them out of my room.

The final few Ballet lesson at Ballet & Music Co., United Square

After 2 yrs of ballet at Ballet & Music Co., I've finally decided to quit. It was when I noticed that there is a new ballet school at Spans Joms that is offering lesson at $120 per term that is $200 cheaper than Kaylen's current ballet school. She learnt nothing much except tall giraffe after 2 yrs,that I finally cannot stand them also.. Most of all, I desperately need to start Kaylen on music class..so cutting down fees on ballet is necessary..heh.

Then after talking to Dancing star at Span jom, I noticed that they do not want Kaylen to join the current pre-primary and wanted her to start on brand new class in case she could not catch up..so again, even though the location was perfect..I decided against them as well.


Finally after some research and asking around, I've decided on Sylvia Mccully at Thomson Plaza..a  ballet school with good reputation...and most of all lesson is only $120 for 3 mths....GOSH, I've been paying $320 to Ballet& Music all these while...

I got a bit shock to see how run down was Sylvia Mccully ...but later on saw the huge no. of students and how gracefully they request the kids to enter the studio and come out...I now do understand why they have so many kids..

Now the class is at 9.30am to 10.30am...so it meant we have to wake up much earlier and travel a bit further..and after class in fact, Kaylen and me have to take bus ourselves to united square to meet daddy...Good thing is there is 3 bus that goes there!

These are the videos taken during ballet&music open class... Its such a happy class, no wonder Kaylen like the school so much. At Miss Mccully lesson, no one can talk or sing, or make noise...its traditional ballet school..so Kaylen gave a thumbs down for the new ballet sch hehe.

Just a  note on how KPO is Kaylen, she actually told Teacher Asya that she is going to new ballet school on the previous lesson...so we teased her if she was gonna tell her that her new teacher name is Miss Lee and Miss Mccully..etc.

Update on Kaylen 4yr 8mth

She reading tooth fairy book with minimal help..coincidently koko was also reading this book at 4yr 9mth, and it was such an interesting book that I wrote a blog entry on it. He was only able to read partially at that time

At 4yr 9mth, koko was doing book 3 of abacus while Kaylen now doing book 7.

And finally she will be doing music class starting next mth, at Whampoa market Music Key..she suddenly showed interest to learn violin..and being no. 2, I cannot afford to enrol her at Mandeville anymore..so we shall try this no brand school first! hehe

I've also quit her from ballet n music comp since I don't find her learning much there...and now desperately looking for new ballet sch!

Kaylen's reading at 4yr 4mth

We are seriously lazy...we got on 1st 2 page of 7a...and stop for a mth..and then, I noticed that in recent days, she was able to read much more during normal times eg. MRT, tv etc..

So we skip to 8a! heh. She's reading well..amazing.

Today we tried her on black beauty by Ladybird classics..she can read to...P&J is superb.

1whole month after we completed p&j book 5, we couldn't start the engine for 6a n 6b. But she will take them out to read only the new words..

So since a mth over doing nothing, I ve decided to skip both 6a n 6b...and start work on 7a.

Surprisingly she can read pretty well too.

And now she's able to pick up junior bks and start reading them. With only min help!

She started playgroup on 28-Feb. After 3 mths, meet the parents session on 28May..all feedback was very positive regarding her performance in school.

Teacher Kasturi said she's like a leader in class. Able to answer her question, good physical skill, happy gal.
And commented that some kids are not able to do all these(well, jared was one of them hah)

Kaylen's 1st ballet lesson

Enrolled her immediately when she turned 2.5yr at Ballet & Music comp. at a level above Jared's mandeville lesson, when I found out that they have lesson time exact same as Jared's...which is really perfect..Both can attend lesson at the same time

Then the next week I brought her to the trial lesson..she clinged to me so hard and can't participate at all..But I still went ahead and paid for the school fees..heh, but delayed the start of lesson till Apr after we came back from HK.

Last week when I brought her to buy her attire..she refused the staff to touch her..

Luckily this week it's so much better..She was willing to attend lesson, tell me she would not cry..and only started getting nervous just before lesson starts...And when inside the class she was quite scared..together with the other 2 new kid (one of them 4yr, and another same age)..all 3 of them didnt participate at all.

I managed to find a chance to sneak out from class room..to find her standing still by the side..tears rolling in eyes..refused to participate...

But but, by the time Daddy & Jared came to check her at 11am+...She was already participating in the activities!...She was holding the scarf trying to clean the window like cinderella, and did a bit of circle time...I was so so glad..at least daddy won't scold me for wasting $ hah..

I was kind of regret sending her here..cos she might be too young for lesson without parents..and should hv gone mandeville music lesson instead? But I knew she would love doing all the stuff in the ballet lesson...

We are faced with some critical condition after their lesson ended. Me and Kaylen wanted Texas Chicken Jared said he’s not going to eat anything if we decided to lunch at Texas. He wanted to go You and Mee to redeem his free drink! Kaylen refused noodle and wanted fries only

Guess what we did? Me and Kaylen have our lunch at Texas. Daddy & Jared at UandMe.

I ordered 2 piece meal with ice milo& fries..She told me the drink had to be ice milo. She was really hungry and told daddy “I’m hungry, I want to eat things” when we were at Toy r us after lesson. She ate that 2 piece chicken, left skin and bones for me..and half pack of fries! This is so abnormal..cos she’s such a small eater..She could just eat some fries and ice milo and be full..yet tat day she finished the whole 2 piece chicken. As for Jared, he and daddy had a bowl of noodle each at U and mee…I’m left with some big chunk of vege when they finished. Faint.
