My 33rd Birthday Celebration 2010

4-Dec Sat, we went for a 2D1N weekend couple getaway at Harris Batam..

Back from a shopping trip at Nagoya hill shopping center. We went for a swim and followed by

The yummy breakfast, though selection is limited, the rendang is sooo good that I ate so much, and finally fall ill for next 3-4 days.

After breakfast, we came here to sit and relaz..before spa time..

Long long ago

Finally no more little einstein & parsnip so we can proceed to Long Long ago...

Used a lot of the 4th finger, that's why the sound so bad everytime it reach that note..But overall really have improved quite a bit on the 4th finger

This weekend for the first time ever since Jared 9mth old that we left for hol without him…we are going to Batam to celebrate my bday..Woots..Hopefully weather is good..and we can indulge in some lovely massage

Mandeville Annual Concert 2010 Part 1

This year, (not sure with previous year though)..all kids who joined the monthly ensemble lesson can join the concert..So I thought why not let him try it. But it has been stressful throughout though..first all the kids in ensemble seemed to be way advance..and he didn’t dare to play for so many month till about july..and started to enjoy only after august ensemble?

Having problem to catch with them made him worried..

But finally on the concert & its rehearsal, he played not bad..with his dance step..

Concert was at 3.30-5.30pm, assembly time at 2.45pm

We reached slightly earlier at 2.30pm and has parked Kaylen at Whampoa..cos we didn't want her to disturb us during the concert..heh

This kind of concert can be quite stressful for me at times..I need to plan his meal times, poo time..and dressing up time..so bz.

Proud daddy, solely in charge of his dressing..and performance...We worked very hard the week before..stop all his other works just concentrate on practise the parnip polka and little einstein song..We found the tunes from you tube and made him follow it..

She will behave well and eat a lot of putu mayam with the help of the uncle with beard..Once she is not eating, we will say uncle coming uncle coming..then she will fast fast eat..hehe

A friend drop by

A friend came visiting, this little gal's name is qian yu. Stayed on the 6th floor. Her mum bought the hair band for Kaylen，And they send over. So mum ask the gal to stay a while.

She's Apr08 bb while Kaylen is Sept08 bb. Half a head taller, and 1.3kg heavier..so obvious hor..


Very interesting expression from Jared, he obviously do not like an extra person In the house.

Question he asked:
Where's her mummy?
Why she come to our house?
Will her mummy bring her home?

He is worried that he would hv another sister. So bad that he can't practises the violin heh

Sweet buns

My first bread making attempt...everybody loves the bread..just before it was done, Jared smell the fragrant and started asking what's that, even without filling it taste pretty good. But will need to add more sugar next time.

The dough which is now proof 2x, is huge..so we ended with very big bread..hehe

ok, i cheated..i used Photoshop to enhance the color..next time must use egg to glaze..

Recipe from happyhomebaking

Ingredients:

(make around nine 60g portions)
150g bread flour
150g cake flour
5g active dry yeast
3g salt
125g milk
1 egg
60g caster sugar
50g butter
(1 egg, beaten, for glazing)

Method:
Mix all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add in milk, egg and butter. Mix into a dough.

Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface. Knead the dough until the gluten is fully developed (see tip below) and the dough is elastic, smooth and non-sticky. It will take about 25 mins to knead the dough by hand. Initially the dough will stick on to the work surface. Do not be tempted to add more flour or even give up kneading! After continuous kneading, the dough will no longer stick to the work surface.

Place the dough in the mixing bowl and cover with a damp towel or cling wrap to seal in the moisture. Allow the dough to ferment(or proof) until double in bulk. This will take about 1 hr. To test whether the dough has been fully proofed, press a finger into the dough and withdraw quickly. It should leave a deep impression and spring back very slowly. For an insufficiently proofed dough, the impression will spring back instantly.

Take out the dough and punch out the gas produced. Let the dough rest for about 15 minutes.

Divide the dough into 60g portions. Shape and add fillings as desired. Arrange dough in a greased or lined pan. Let the dough proof for the second time for about 30-45mins.

Brush the top with egg wash. Add almond flakes on the top of the buns, as desired.

Bake for about 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 190 degC. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.

Tip:To check whether the dough is fully developed, take a small piece of the dough and stretch it with your fingers. If it can be stretched into a thin layer without tearing easily, the dough is fully developed.

Jared's birthday part 4

Jared finally received his present on 19 Nov, his actual birthday. He only look forward for that day actually, instead of so many pre-celebration..cos he knew he will get some presents on that day...hehe..The hot wheels was bought by daddy from US..and the airport was from Uncle kiwi...and ah yi gave him a scrabble set which is not in the pic.

Milk
Still drinking his milk from milk bottle, ~2x a day morning & before sleep for school days, and 1x for those day without sch.
He still don’t know how to have proper breakfast so early for sch.
I wonder if he will continue to drink milk up to P1? Just like me?? *faint* hehe.

Enrichment: Abacus
He’s at book 3 now. By next month when he start on Book 4, he will start to use mental to calculate the sums. But he is getting lazier these days, only complete <20sums during lesson, the rest of the time he sing songs in the class..*faint*

Enrichment: Violin
Just had his first group ensemble. We were so relieved with his performance, cos he had always didn’t want to go for it..I also pity him as he got no friend..unlike kindy concert, But he really enjoyed the concert , and while we were at hm, he told us I want to go to concert already…then at outside hall, again he said he want to go in already…Which is really positive sign.
Just started learning Suzuki book..He can now Gone with the Wind, Aunt Rody, O Come little Children, May song…and going to start practice Long Long ago.

After so long in violin, he can self play the items in keyboard..We got a small piece of keyboard (hand me down from me)…occasionally he would try to play the tunes..


English reading
Peter & Jane: Half way at 7b, and Half way at 9a.
Can spell abt 100 words now..but still cant write anything on his own.

Chinese reading
Still can’t read any Chinese book..oh dear..

Pee& poo
From baby he is troubled by poo poo problem..now still..most frequent goat poo poo..despite feeding him with lotsa of fruits and water. Another great achievement must be going pee by himself..Just so much relieved to us, heh..Poo most of time still doing it in potty.

Blinking eyes
This is the first and foremost habit he need to get rid of..and its my no. 1 birthday wish for him..

Teeth
Still all intact *lucky*…had he first decay at 2.5yr..first filling at 3yr old..And just completed major filling ($400 on 7 tooth) in june-july’10 4.5yr old…I got relieved when I observed some of his classmates already lost teeth, at least he wont be the 1st one to bo geh chiak tauge..hah. He has got a nick, Jared black teeth given by Robin..hehe..of cos now no more, and he’s fine to smile with teeth nowadays..Thats the most worth $ spent.
