The baker..Jared and mummy..Almost rock bun

The almost rock bun which turned out to be chocolate chip cookies..still tasted quite good..

It was made by Jared and me!..

Jared could never pose well on camera now..! He like the cookies he made..so had quite a few of them..

The kids with Gwenetth ...Jared had a great time following the jie jie around, and mimic what she do..when he saw her eat on her own, he also want to eat on his own..refuse ppl feed..

The 7.8kg look...

look better huh? Her face still so round..so not much impact..hehe

Swimming..the culprit that make her sick for 1 whole wk!

It's Kaylen 9 mth old day..the day she finally get to have her 2nd dip at the pool..1st time didn't went well at Ritz..so that explain why such a long wait before next dip..

This round she really enjoyed it..smiling, enjoy being pull every where by kor kor..not scared at all..

But the next day we started feeling her having little fever...and 2days later, Monday..the fever has all the way tilll 39.8degree...Daddy was really kam cheong, so we both took half day leave to bring her to see Pd...and the fever continues for another few days..with every morning raise all the way till 39degree..

She couldn't take in milk or solid...but thankfully she loves water..so survive on water..and I love Dr. Ong..he told us she would get well by Thurs..amazingly..her fever really goes down by Thurs..But after that, was the false measles..which make her face messy..hehe..

Headaches

Abacus class

First two lesson went well, though he was the youngest kid in class..so we were being branded as "kiasu" to send a kid who can't even write yet..hehe..

The rest of kids mostly in k1,k2 or p1. Jessica who's our neighbour also attending the class, she's k2 already.

So he had to sit with 2 chair and sit together with teacher right in front of the class..

He could grab the concept of abacus, how to do 1-9, 1+1, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5, etc on the abacus. But being the youngest in the class the teacher does not test him at the end of class. And there's quite a lot of worksheet to be completed in the class. Other than writing no. 1-9 which he could not do, he could do the matching pretty well. But sometimes kid sit beside him would help do his worksheet after see him so slow...that's not really good..

I like the class a lot..cos it make math much simpler..in next few lessons, he would be able to do single digit sums for eg

6-2+4
7-5+1
2+3+5

These type...If i had to teach heart counting... i thk i would hv vomitted blood already. But with the abacus, moving around with beads..it is so much easier..

How do I know? I learnt it from his worksheet, and work thru the sums hehehe.
though he couldn't write nos. he don't seemed to be stress out with it, and he talk to teacher a lot..and still enjoy going to the class...

One thing I could not expect him is that to come back with the worksheet all filled up with his calculation and how long he needs to complete the sums, just because HE COULDN't WRITE!...arrrrgghhh..

Why is writing just a few nos. so diff to him? aiyo..

Violin
Finally the school called me up as they are gonna smaller size violin to come in...After brought him to school to take the measurement, I have 2nd thought of starting him so early..and starting with Violin. The school principal said it will be very boring to start with violin as they can't do anything until they hold the violin properly with the bow. Then it seems that his hands are so small to press the strings...And also the high cost in starting the course...Deposit,school fees, and instruments would cost $350...Argghhh..If he like it never mind..if he throw the violin..i'm gonna faint...

But when we were there, he seemed to be really interested with the violin...when teacher ask him to hold he would hold it..

Now I'm having 2nd thought to let him start only next year, only if he could write...but what if he has more own ideas, becoming more naughty? then jia lat too.

The violin fees is at $100 for 4 lessons, each lesson 30min only.
Abacus is $120 for 10 lessons, each lesson 1.5hr ..amazing he could sit through the 1.5hr happily yeah?

Kaylen is 9mth old

Feeding
-> still on breastmilk..and total bf yay!
My milk has slowly went back to normal range although not as good as peak period...still it's enough to cover her needs. She still take only 4oz per feed. With 2 solid intake, no problem to meet her daily needs.

Over the month she had tried salmon, chye sim, cheese and yogurt. Jared loves her baby yogurt...open big mouth to eat.

She could self feed herself grape, and bite off the flesh to eat on her own..

Physical
-> Like to pull herself up and stand...anything that she could grab hold of, she would just try to stand up
-> Crawl in all 4s..but not very far distance, she only crawl around the bumper playmat to sofa, or around the bed..

Hmmm..as i'm writing this she's has got high fever for 3-4 days already..Right after her 9mth old day when she go swimming..
Her weight is down to 7.9kg from 8.3kg...lost all the chubbiness as a result of no appetite for milk and food..only drink water..
She loves water, and hates milk...somehow even refuse to latch on.

Sad to say Jared could not write at all now at 3.5yr. Ever since the meet the parents session, he has been forced real often to start writing..But he just don't seem to like to sit still to trace the letters, and worst he think words other "1" is difficult..and prefer to write the chinese "1,2,3" since only lines are involved.

As parents am really feeling so stressed about it, He seemed to be far away from his peers now..haiz.
I really wonder if its a boy / gal thing that make him start writing so slow..

Same picnic, same park...Different Encounter

Managed to wake up early for beatiful Saturday..and Jared requested for a picnic.

So we went tah pao..and to my surprise they weren't long queue at the usual stall for chwee kueh and bee hoon.

When we reached the park, it was a heat not moving there..Very stuffy feel...just when we start tucking in our food..suddenly the wind blow so so strongly...they we have to pack and go under the shelter..Still we don't feel good to continue eating..so we decided to go home..

Only managed to take few pictures of Kaylen..She was wearing a brand new outfit....halter neck top+hot pant....which was meant for 12mth/18mths.. :(

She is also much mobile these days ...having able to pull herself up to stand and crawl aways...very diff to take her pics already.

Jared had a good run running after a wild rabbit with other kids...

can't sit still..must crawl here and there, and no more smiles??

Meet The Parents

I took MC, and daddy took 2hr time off to attend it..hehe..
When we reached Jared's school, we were brought to 2nd level's hall to watch a video clip of their school activities and their kids kampong visit..

My head was spinning after watching too hard trying to find a glimse of Jared..hehee...Finally I saw him using the net "trying" to play with water on the drain at kids kampong visit...Then we were bring called to go down and standby the classroom for meeting the teachers.

Outside displayed their project, and how they felt about kids kampong..soooo hard then found Jared's answer..
What do you like at kids kampong?
Jared: I like ice cream
(Some kids go on and on with their favourite things there)...
Then when we went in...Both english and chinese teacher...reflect to us that Jared is someone who have own thinking, do what he thinks..

eg.
When everyone else(pre nursery to K2) is following teachers dancing , he will dance on his own steps by the side.

When everyone is paying attention to what teacher teach, he will be looking outside, playing with his socks..or walk around. But when being tested of what teacher thought that day, he will know exactly what teacher thought. So teachers decided to respect his way of learning..yet hoping this would improve...

Doing workbook- colouring still need to improve...and writing too..
He like adult more than kids...everyday he when he arrive to school, he would go into classroom and teacher would give him a hug before starting the day..
Real headache when we were shown his report book, no As, all C with some Bs...
So now everyone is kam cheong over his studies, and try to force him to do workbook...hehe...

p/s its the nicest MC day i've spend..i went home to bring jared to raffles hospital with me to see endocrine..with daddy sent us there..Then brought him to bugis and meet up with Old fren-mary and son Kenshin for lunch..

Jared stick to me closely all around..so not scare if he got lost..unlike when his daddy around, he would be running around..and more notti.

He's really not shy with adult..He talk to nurses, and my doctors...asking them things they do, and sharing with them the new toy his got!..
Jared: what is she doing? (refer to nurse)
Me: She is drawing out mummy's blood
Jared: what are you doing with the blood
nurse: I'm sending it for test..
Jared: test? how?
nurse: use the machine..

ared: machine?? (he recalled an episod of pocoyo introducing machine)
then he go and on and on...and share the nurse with his story

Jared: Do you know that I'm going to buy a new car?
nurse: where are you going to buy?
Jared: at the shopping
After that when I brought him to see prof cheah..
again he tell the doc about his new car, call Lofty..

He still do not know how to communicate with kids around his age..but with adults, including (nurses, doctors, policemen)..no problem. When my mum brought him to see doc..and happen that doc is Indian...Jared would tell the doctor himself and follow action requested by doctor to let him examine..No translator needed!

When my mum brought him to police station, he would offer to translate what police said to my mum..

The poor guy...

Just don't understand why the bug always like to bite Jared..

The last time an insect bite his eyes..it got swollen like baluku..and the next day got hit by me, the baluku turn black..till teacher called me up to ask what exactly happen to Jared..hehe

Now this is worst.. Half of the face is swollen, disfigured... If i only see that disfigured side of his face, I'm probally not going to realise that's my son... That was how scary it is...hehe..

The night before he wet his bed, and daddy forgot to change him..the day after we saw a red patch when he woke up. Then when I called back to check him up after his school, my mum told that it has swollen up.

Neither I thought it could be such big impact. Quickly brought him to see a doc at whampoa that nite, but find very weird, cos was given brufen and nothing to apply + 2 days MC. The next day, things does not improve at all.. So my parents brought him to polyclinic.

After the doc checked him, decided to refer him to KK hospital..Doc gave 5 days MC....so all and all, seen 3 doc and damage close to $150... Haizzz... Why the bug don't want to bite me? I also want 5 days MC leh! But he only took 1 day of MC, went back to school today..

Interesting Conversation with Jared @ 3.5yr

Scenario 1: Birthdays!

Mummy: today is ah yi's birthday, then will be Kaylen's birthday , Jared's birthday and mummy's birthday!
Jared: I want to buy you a pump for your birthday.
Mummy: Why a pump?
Jared: aaaa....so that mummy can squeeze milk, because mummy got a pump.

Scenario 2: burger choice


Mummy: Which one do you want? There's tuna, ham and fish fillet
Jared: That will be good *pointing to tuna burger*

actually not very interesting this conversation, but sometimes he do say something diff from our daily conversation..apparently he learnt it else where, more from tv actually.

Becos if I'm the one to answer the question, I'll just say ...This one, That one...instead of "That will be good"..Apparently he has got a potential to say good english in future if he go to proper school? I really hope so.

My plan for the kids..

Jared

being the first kid in the family, he was lucky enough to get to go some extra classes like gymboree, kindermusik trial class, few term at Mygym when he was 10mths old. Then few terms at Julia Gabriel when he turn 18mth.

he stop all the classes when daddy left to work overseas...then when daddy back, meimei comes..also trouble for his daily school at the pap...so we havent had any action..
Now come the school holiday..finally i found him something to do..hehe..

So he'll be going abacus class at whampoa cc for 2 wks..and i hope it will proceed to higher level...
This fri he's also going to "interview" with violin teacher...to see if he can take up the lesson..I've also made enquiry with Mandeville for their suzuki baby violin..to find out that parents have to get a piece of violin too!..but after he go to individual class that piece of violin would be wasted..Arrggghhh..lucky I have kaylen..hehe..

I chose violin, cos its portable since we travel between sembawang and whampoa..
Anyway, thats my plan..based on Jared's character who can't sit down..i think it's likely to be a waste of $$ ..

Update from intervew with violin teacher:
His fingers is ready to play the violin, but his hand is not long enough even for the smallest violin. During the session, the teacher played him happy birthday song...and he seemed to enjoy the class and wanted to attend more lesson. So now the teacher will try gather 2 more kids to start a basic lesson for them.

Kaylen
I doubt she would be so lucky to be able to go mygym and JG..hehe..all $ used up by kor kor already..
But I would try to insist her to go ballet, and violin (make sure the violin invested is fully make use of)

Okay..finally its the last birthday in Apr/May...next we shall look forward to gong gong's birthday in aug, Kaylen's birthday in Sept..Jared in Nov, and mine in Dec...!!!!


Since the restaurant was really crowded and a lot of ppl waiting for table, so we all came to sembawang for cake cutting..and finally no more bengawan solo cakes..since no more fullmth cards to exchange..The cake was very nice bought buy wei ming..

Fly kite, picnic and cycle at the East Coast

For the first time we brought a kite along to the east coast park...and found a very nice spot for picnic..though i didnt bring food for the adult..only baby porridge for jared and kaylen..

Wind was blowing strongly..so flying up the kite wasn't a problem at all..Only Jared don't seem to enjoy fly kite that much...instead he loves to stuck his car in the sand.

As for Kaylen, she wasn't enjoying the picnic, dun even want to smile ...so no nice pics of her..

Jared with the kite, he anyhow pull also the kite will fly...hehe..

Kaylen 8.5mth taken at home before we leave for east coast..Happy and smiley as usual.

Everytime Jared brought fish home...

arrrghhh..Don't like it...

cos it fell so much like doing bad thing..make the fish kill themselves..

In his very first school outing, they went to a fish farm at Pasir Ris.. He came back with a pail, fishing net and plastic of fish.. so scary ah..on and off the fish will commit suicide by jumping out of the water...eeeee

This time, he said the fishes are scared of his net..so all run away when see his net, so he didn't manage to catch any..

So the pail of fish he brought back was netted by his teacher. hehe..

Last week, when he pass by the river at whampoa saw ppl catch fish..The person also gave him a few...of cos all died in the end...

Real felt so bad everytime see him bringing fish home...

Jared...badly need a haircut now..!

His last hair cut was just before CNY...and now ppl started asking us if he's a gal? hehe

Kaylen's 2nd hair cut...8 mth 1 wk old

Damage...8 bucks...and tut tut look..Cannot wear hair clip for sometime now hehe..

1st smile at swimming pool... she's so scared of swimming pool that everytime we go she must cry when i try to let her feet touch with water...But this round we brought along a duckie she played during bath time..It helps!..next time she shall join jared for swim..hee

We just saw a car driving so fast and so loud passing beside us

Me: Jared, did you see the car? So fast and so loud!
*After he finish looking*
Jared: Daddy, slowly, you are not driving a race car..

Situation 2
Mummy stomach pain..ouch ouch
Jared: mummy, don't worry..

Situation 3
Jared was really notti insisting on playing with the bowl and pots in the kitchen. He always stand on top of his stool to get things nowadays...and finally he break a bowl

Jared: i'm sorry daddy..
Daddy: #&*%$% (all kind of scolding, and kick him out of the kitchen)
Jared: mummy, i want you to read to me (hinting that he want to go to the room to read books)

after we read, daddy come into the room after cleaning

Jared: daddy, you are not suppose to angry now
Daddy: I'm still angry
Jared: daddy, you are not suppose to come in...

Situation 4
We looking at newspaper for big cars advertisement
Mummy: which car do you want daddy to buy?
Jared: no, daddy don't have thousand dollars.
(trying to say daddy no $..hehee)

Finally she's 8 month old!

Milk feed

-> When the fm finish just before 7mth old, i decided to try out total breasfeed..w/o any FM at all.

-> It was going well for 2 wks, till mid of 3rd wks..the milk just decided not to come..so I made my record low 7oz. (normal 12oz from office) -

> Anyway, all I can hope is to tong till another 1-2mth even if its partial breasfteed.

Physical Development

-> She can raise her hand up doing good bye (open shut) when you wave good bye to her..

-> She shake her head when she's full if you try to offer more..At first when my grandma was complimenting how smart Kaylen was to shake head when full, I also don't believe..I thought it was plain coincidence..But when I tried to feed her food on weekend, she was eating very well, till suddenly shake head when the bowl of porr almost finishing..I was like wow...Then I tried to show daddy, by asking him to offer her more food..She shake her head only when being offered. All along we felt that she's a glutton baby that she won't reject any food..Now I know how smart can baby be.

-> can't sit still on adults lap now..she would try to push herself down to stand on the floor instead

Solid Intake

-> Started fish accept really well..and she prefer porridge with fish more.

-> Re start again egg yolk, seems no problem now..

Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve

Still can't catch up with blog posting..argghh

But this one I must post..cos we did something different...hehe the Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve

Jared has been talking about going to the forest after he read some books. And we were so lazy that we keep on delaying the trip...till lately there's long weekend. Just when I told him the decision we are going to the forest..he ask me, Mummy, is there lion roar in forest? I told him..maybe..hehe..

Then when we were there, I pretend myself to be lion..hehe.. When we reached there, it was almost 11am...and when we started the road, realised there's no proper tar road to walk...and daddy insist on doing the trail..since we already paid $2.50 to come in...so we walk and walk..till later I take out the brochure to realised there's no return..the only way is to finish route no.1 ..Which is 1 to 1.5hr walking trail. Arrgghhh...

Jared only had 1 bowl of oatmeal while Kaylen had some milk only...thankfully I already cook their porridge before we left..When we finally reach home, its already 1pm+...So guilty to make them hungry..

We did many tracking when we went US last yr, we did something like this when we go Zion National park,...But for sg, this is still the first time..so I find it wasn't too bad an experience..of cos the things that we saw was nothing compared to the views of those national park..

See how naughty is his expression..Got him the sunglass at $2 from Daiso..hehe..since then he wanted to go cycling and outdoor activities so that he can use the sunglass.

At the lookout..but nothing to see...no bird, no special plants..
