England & Scotland 2018 Day 13

Day 13 3-Dec 2018  Monday

Train to London 4.5hr
London Eye / House of Parliament/ Big Ben/ Leicester square

We had a cab booked by Emma, the owner of Hollyrood Snug to come by 6:50am for our train at 7:30am. The cab ride cost only GBP7.

We arrived in Kings Cross station right on time, and navigated thru to our hotel PI 5mins away. London was much hotter at 13C.  There wasn’t room for us, so we were out navigating the way to London Eye soon.  The rain started getting heavier, and my heart dropped cos to make my $ worthwhile, we need to take London Eye in clear weather.

We were all drenched by the time we entered the ticketing booth of London Eye. Not too long a queue, but I still waited half hour for it. By the time we were done with the 4D show, and got up to the Eye..It was blue sky! I told Kaylen, we might find rainbow..which indeed turned up  too!

Now I regretted not getting the top up for London Eye cruise due to the good weather. Anyway, shortly later, it started raining again.  Our plan was to get to Leicester Sq to have Chinese food. As my feet was totally bruised, I opted for tube..which was wrong again! The changing of tube lines up & down the stairs & took even longer..and the tube was full too!

Luckily we got a seat immediately when we arrived at Four Seasons for their famous London duck. We ordered 2combi roast pork & duck, but the duck was too good that we had to order another ¼ of duck, only 2 of us eating so much meat, when we don’t normally eat much meat on normal days. So you could imagine how good it was!

Palace of Westminster. Which is also the parliament

Ppl were shouting against brexit under the cold n wet weather.

England & Scotland 2018 Day 12

Day 12 2-Dec 2018  Sunday

Arthur’s seat, Queen’s Arm Sunday Roast, Carlton Hill

The morning started with Arthur’s seat walk.  I was all dressed up in boots and coats like my usual day..But just short walk, I already can felt the sweat even at cold weather of 8C.  Then Jared just walk and walk till we couldn’t see him almost 90% of the journey, while Kaylen slowed to wait for us.

When we lost Jared long enough, I suddenly panic , there was quite a no. of different peak there..and wondered if he followed others to the wrong peak.  Daddy finally found him all wet, sweaty, dirty at the summit trying to borrow phone from PRC tourist to call him.

I just couldn’t believe my sensible son didn’t wait for us and climbed up the hardest, steepest part by himself on all fours. Kaylen and me waited down there for so long that got us so worried..in actual case, daddy took quite a while himself to climb up, and since he was up , the scenary was so nice..he had to spend even more time to take pic..*faint*.

Kaylen kept ensured me her koko is definitely naughty enough to go up by himself..haha. because only she get to see the real side of her bro, when I’m not around.  The waiting time was quite scary, could practically see the cloud coming and block all the views.

Then when we were finally reunited at the summit, there was already quite a big crowd up there..and took our time to take pics with the sea of cloud!

We got lost on the way down, and after walking for sometime we gave up and decided to call the uber at Hollyrood Park, amazingly we managed to arrive at our Sunday Roast at Queens Arm on time at 12.30pm.

Ordered duck for Kaylen and she finished it on her own.  Sunday Roast was ok but portion was small..Total bill was GBP55. The service was super slow, we waited at least 30-45mins for the food to be serve.

It was raining when we left Queens Arm, so I took a decision to visit Primark again ..which was so wrong!...Only 1hr in Primark, the sky got even darker and I haven’t visit the Calton Hill!..So after this incident, I really asked them to warn me off Primark.

So only bad pics on Calton Hill.

Kaylen & me took turn to take pics while waiting for daddy to find koko

Kindle binging anytime they are free..with harry porter.

England & Scotland 2018 Day 11

Day 11 1-Dec 2018 Friday

Royal Mile/ Edinburgh Castle / Greyfriars Kirkyard/ Christmas Market/ Princess street

The morning started with returning the car to Hertz, and after that we explored Edinburgh on foot which the kids complained & complained.

We walked to Royal Mile to arrive at Edinburgh Castle, it wasn’t as Royal as I would have expect..just a normal brick tiled road ..hmmm..

Edinburgh Castle was more compact, more exhibit and better maintained than Windsor Castle.

Kids had pizza as early lunch which cost GBP7 in the castle, while daddy & me shared a Oink sandwich, it was indeed worth the rave.

After castle, we explored Edinburgh Christmas market, again it was over crowded. Finally tried the mull wine..tasted quite nice & warmed up the body.

Kaylen had a go at few rides before we left for dinner.  To our surprise, the restaurants near Princess street were all full before 5pm..and we had to wait 1hour for our table.

Another night shopping at Primark before we took bus GBP5 home.
