England & Scotland 2018 Day 17

Day 17 7-Dec 2018 Friday
Home sweet home

It was a good flight home, I’m not sure we grew slimmer on the trip..the sitting space looked much bigger, and we slept thru and skipped the snack!

England & Scotland 2018 Day 16

Day 16 6-Dec 2018  Thursday

Natural History Museum, Sci Museum, V&A Museum
LHR Airport

Couldn’t eat at PI breakfast cos of food poisoning…and luckily we bought some salt to add into my drinks at Boots pharmacy.

Today we had 3 museum to cover.

Natural history museum, kids only like the dinosaur hall. But when Jared saw the sci museum..he declared that was his best day ever!

Only had 5mins at V&A museum before we had to travel back to PI.

Booked blackberry’s transfer to Hertz Heathrow at GBP40, cos I had phobia with London tube.  It took about 1hr to arrive at Hertz to collect our lost rucksack before taking their complimentary bus back to LHR T3

That marked the end of our vacation!

England & Scotland 2018 Day 15

Buckingham Palace  - guard change 11am/ St James Park
Picadilly Circus/ National Gallery/ B Bakery for Afternoon tea Birthday celebration/ Chinatown birthday dinner/ Brick Lane Salt Beef Beigel

It was my 41st Birthday! Woke up to the kids & daddy gave me a primark facial cleaning tool..

We arrived at Buckingham Palace slightly over 10am, and there were already quite a no. of tourist, occupying the good spots.

The whole possession took place like 2hr, which the kids didn’t show much enthusiasm, and immediately complained hungry after it ended.

We spent some time chasing after squirrel at Green Park before walking to Picadilly. Visited Fortnum&mason, and it was too crowded.

After lunch, we spent a good time at National Gallery, somehow the gallery was conducive enough, and the paintings looked much better & more valuable than those at Manchester.

When we left the gallery, I told daddy, it was time for my cake cutting.  With the rain on, daddy just googled for the nearby restaurant..and we walked under the rain and found B Bakery..somehow it seemed a popular place for afternoon tea, all their xmas tea set sold out.  So we ordered a cake, 3 macaroons, and a cup cake + tea..(GBP17). Had a good rest & simple afternoon tea there.

The original plan was Burger& lobster for my bday dinner, but I saw how the kids lost their appetite with western food and wasn’t eating well for few days already..so I decided to go back to Chinatown Four Seasons, and ordered their fried rice!

It was such good dinner for the kids…the rice at GBP4.90 a portion, we ordered 2 portion…and Kaylen couldn’t wait for dinner to be serve to her!..Unfortunately, the duck wasn’t as good as the 1st day.

Supper that night was a 30mins bus trip to Brick Lane  Salt beef beigel. Wrong decision, I hated how the beigel taste, just like a thick salty spam on bread ..yuck. That night I started showing sign of food poisoning!

England & Scotland 2018 Day 14

Day 14 4-Dec 2018 Tuesday
Tower bridge/Borough market/Millenium Bridge/ St Paul/British Museum/ SOHO/Covent Garden

We woke with super good weather, mild & blue sky. The original plan was to visit British Museum but it would be such a waste to be indoor.  So we made change to the original plan & ride the tube to tower bridge area.

It was the only day with clear blue sky morning & turned dull, grey, cold after lunch.

We took so many pics at Tower bridge & finally had our lunch at Borough market.

I had been looking forward with food at the market and realized it was so so..except the giant oyster at GBP3.50..that was unforgettable.

After lunch, we continued for London Bridge, Millenium Bridge & St Pauls.

Then we took the bus to British Museum.  We didn’t particularly like British museum stuff, but Jared did try to tell us more on the significance of Rossetta stone, and how Egypt wanting to get it back.  Quite a no. of scary mummy there too.

After that, we walked to Hummingbird bakery, bought 1 cupcake, which I regretted, cos I thought we would passby often and finally ended the day at Big Easy, Covent Garden for lobster dinner. The 1.5pound lobster cost  GBP35, both me & daddy shared.  We still had to finish the kids meal.

England & Scotland 2018 Day 13

Day 13 3-Dec 2018  Monday

Train to London 4.5hr
London Eye / House of Parliament/ Big Ben/ Leicester square

We had a cab booked by Emma, the owner of Hollyrood Snug to come by 6:50am for our train at 7:30am. The cab ride cost only GBP7.

We arrived in Kings Cross station right on time, and navigated thru to our hotel PI 5mins away. London was much hotter at 13C.  There wasn’t room for us, so we were out navigating the way to London Eye soon.  The rain started getting heavier, and my heart dropped cos to make my $ worthwhile, we need to take London Eye in clear weather.

We were all drenched by the time we entered the ticketing booth of London Eye. Not too long a queue, but I still waited half hour for it. By the time we were done with the 4D show, and got up to the Eye..It was blue sky! I told Kaylen, we might find rainbow..which indeed turned up  too!

Now I regretted not getting the top up for London Eye cruise due to the good weather. Anyway, shortly later, it started raining again.  Our plan was to get to Leicester Sq to have Chinese food. As my feet was totally bruised, I opted for tube..which was wrong again! The changing of tube lines up & down the stairs & took even longer..and the tube was full too!

Luckily we got a seat immediately when we arrived at Four Seasons for their famous London duck. We ordered 2combi roast pork & duck, but the duck was too good that we had to order another ¼ of duck, only 2 of us eating so much meat, when we don’t normally eat much meat on normal days. So you could imagine how good it was!

Palace of Westminster. Which is also the parliament

Ppl were shouting against brexit under the cold n wet weather.
