Taipei 21-25 Mar 2013 Day 5 Return home

Last AM in Taipei. Woke up early for breakfast as we need to do some last min shopping for fresh fruits to bring home...

Taipei 21-25 Mar 2013 Day 4 Chia Te, Shida Night market

Final full day in Taipei.
Morning was spent queing at Chia Te for Taipei's most famous pineapple tart..the queue was chaos...so early and the shop was full, and ppl loaded with carton boxes of ChiaTe to check in the airplane..Cannot imagine.

After that back to hotel to put down the stuff, and out we go for beef noodle,..This niu dian somehow had better reviews than Taoyuan Beef noodle, so we tried here..

But I think Taoyuan still better.

Then do more shopping at Taipei main station underground mall for the cheap shoes..bought another 3 pair of shoes...1 for ahyi, 1 Kaylen and 1 me...of cos its the 2nd pair of matching shoes for Kaylen and me...and strange hardly have men/boy shoes there.

Finally its Shida night market where we tried the lu wei.

And back at XMD for some night shots, and finally found the bbq muah chi here...and the final final street food in Taipei....Da chang bao xiao chang...and guess what ? After that, the next day I was down with food poisoning, and vomitted in the airport shuttle to airport, and 3x in the airplane...

It was terrible...followed by an MC after coming back...what a way to end the wonderful Taipei trip without kids...haiz..

All flavours of tarts...for full boxes of pineapple tart, can order from counter...unless mix flavour then need to take from shelf. One good thing is they never run out of order.

Taipei 21-25 Mar 2013 Day 3 Part 2 Jing tung, Shi fen

Jingtung is even smaller place, but once we were there we were stranded for 1.5hr till next train comes.  And without tripod, we were pretty bored to take pics..and so most of time was spent at train station to nurse my poor swollen feet.











Shifen was much a happening place, more shops for tian deng, more crowded..more ppl flying the lantern at the same time..but gosh, I'm in bad mood as I needed to pee...and the toilets were over crowded and super dirty!...So we only stayed for 10mins..and go back to station to take the next train to Ruifang.

Finally, we managed to get a seat in the train to go back to Taipei main station...there, I went to the underground mall in search of new, comfy shoes..and I was so glad I managed to get 1 pair...also got the same pair for Kaylen. Each is only NT200 (SGD8.80)

After going so many places, the night was still young..When we were back at XMD, it was only 9pm+...immediately go and queue for Mala hotpot...only managed to get a table at 9.45pm...and only allowed to stay till 11.30pm. A little bit too kam cheong to enjoy fully..so not much pics taken..

But I must say, it had to be the best ever malaguo which I had taken so far. I don't like those in SG with a lot of dried chilli...this one, we can go on and on even without water...and they provided black angus beef..which I ordered so many servings..

Taipei 21-25 Mar 2013 Day 3 Part 1 Jiufen, Pingxi

Today is to get out of Taipei to Jiufen, Pingxi, Jingtung and Shifen...We managed to cover the whole pingxi line..

It was a Saturday..so the train was full on all the stations..we had to stand and squeeze with the locals all the way to and fro..

So we started with Jiufen early morning and some of the shop wasn't open yet.


My favourite food...peanut ice cream..


then followed by Lai ah po taro balls..my favourite too..I just like food with the chewyness..








when we were tired, another round of taro dessert...this time from ah kan yi..and we concluded that lai ahpo is better

When jiufen was getting so crowded, we left before lunch and back at Ruifang. Since there was about 1hour to our train to Pingxi, we walked to this food center to have lunch



chose this apparently award winning stall..and had our meals..







Arrived at Pingxi..a small place with few shops...not much things to do..except flying tian deng.


So we joined in the fun..and wrote all our wishes for the family and kids..and chose a 2 colour ones  at NT120




















forgotten to take our tripod with us so we only had this couple pic...not much choice, cannot keep asking ppl to retake..so fat also no choice..hehe
