New hair cut @ 3yr 1mth old

Kaylen has been keeping the long hair for sometime..probaly since the cut at 2yr old...we have been trying to help her keep long hair.
But i get agitated when she keep looking dirty, and messy...so had been wanted to give her hair a revamp

Since I was on leave, I decided to bring her for a cut.

When she was put to sit alone on a bench on the chair..her tears rolled down..and wanting me to hug her.

So the hairdresser suggested I should carry her..

Once I carried her she behave so well throughout.

New member of the family-Baby Freya

After the long long wait, finally bb freya arrived on 30Sept...as what Kaylen said..

After baby got home, we went to ahyi house to visit her. Kaylen and mum took their car..On the car, baby cried…Kaylen was again frighten..and she refused to look at her, facing the window throughout, and tears keep rolling down..and she felt so bad that she cant take her nap and milk feed in the car.

Lacking of updates

Ever since Sept we have been extremely bz..

First we have Kaylen’s birthday in school, then her actual birthday and coincided with the purchase of new flat at whampoa and then busy with open house of Sembawang to sell it off.

Also preparation of Jared’s grade 2 violin exam in march.

Just then when we thought the house stuff was settled, we were troubled by the buyer backing off, as they didn’t get their bank loan approved in time..and now we have to re-open our house weekly for sale..This requires a lot of clean up on our part just hoping to fetch a better price.

And on top of that, Ms Loh aural class commented she could not teach Jared (6YO) and Clare(5YO) aural as they being too young, were not able to understand what she said, and not ready for exam. WTH. It was prof Thanh who commented that Jared were ready for exam, and we had since spent close to 1k to enroll him for aural, master, technique, and exam fee..and now Ms Loh said he has to get 1 to 1 teacher for aural..So now we were bz searching for teacher and a time slot, and still not sure how much 1to1 lesson will cost..haiz. And most of all Jared hated the lesson..

Practising for exam also require much long time than anything..from daily half hour, to now almost take 1.5hr..

Also at the same time, sis gave birth..and we were bz shuttling between hospital, Tampinese as well..ha.

I have so much more to update like our cruise trip, Kaylen’s actual birthday, their development updates..etc etc..But first we need to sell of Sembawang flat to get that big stone uplifted..haiz.

Superstar virgo cruise trip [7-9 Sept] Day 1

It has been at least 12yrs since the last we took the cruise..the only impression was super bored.

But we decided to bring kids along this round..as I thought it would be an eye opener for them..

True enough..

Jared was worrying about taking cruise will caused him sea sick just like the macao boat..and he asked to sit beside daddy when got on the boat..We laughed at him said..this boat is so big, we get a hotel room inside..and can sleep in it....the moment the kids step into the cruise..they got so excited..and happy..We were happy too..despite it being so tired looking, and bad maintenance..everything still the same as 12yrs ago except..the age..

Long long queue to get on board we were at Harborfront cruise center since 7:30pm..by the time we get must be 10pm+ already

Jared slept on his own nearest to the window as he want to view the window views to sleep...nice

Update on our family

We had made the biggest decision ever during this period

We are MOVING!!!

It was already always in my mind that we will move over to Whampoa by Jared P1...and indeed it came true!

I've been monitoring property in Whampoa area since Feb/Mar '10..and finally we found ours in Sep.

Viewed the house on 3Sep, before kite day, Made the decision to offer on 6Sep (kaylen's bday)..and owner got back to us finally on 9Sept.

So we will be getting the house on 16Mar 2011..as per owner request, that they can only move out in school holiday.

Cost: $648,888

With regards to Sembawang, after viewing the Whampoa house on 3Sep, we were approached by agent to quickly sell off our house so that we have fund transfer to buy the other house.  So after having a meeting on the 4Sep them over at our place, and taking pics etc..our house started to get marketed on 5 Sep.  We started getting ppl to view our house that Sun, after we got back from cruise...it was a tiring times..having close to 10grps of strangers in and out our house from 2pm to 4:30pm..

We've got an Indian couple offer 455k on the 1st day of viewing..This was the highest that day..but it was rejected since we have not got any valuation report.

Valuaer came on  the next Tues, and we got the valuation out at $420k...what a disappointment, as a hse at level 9 had $430k.

We had another viewing on 17Sept for 4grps of ppl...Immediately that evening it was the toughest moment, the indiian family and chinese family were vying for our house..

Finally the deal went to chinese family..with 46k COV..but the condition is we have to move out by mid Jan... The indian family though offer 1 room for storage but could only afford up to 42k COV.

Anyway, both SOLD and buy are already settled...

The next thing is, pack up and leave..hehe...We will be 3mth homeless..and probaly need to rent storage space for 3mths ...

But still looking forward to having our new place by Mid Apr '11...

Kaylen's School Birthday-Pre celebration

The original cake from icing room 1.5kg at $58, initially I was looking at pine garden cake which cost ~$80 for 1.5kg but it required us to collect at 8:30am from AMK, and party is at 9:15am. I thought its too much chance to risk. Then I was looking at another baker, which charge $125 including delivery..again, I find it too ex for a playgrp cake..So finally I ordered this cake from icing room, and added the mickey on top..hehe..since Kaylen wanted mickey mouse cake so much..

Cake after our transformation

bored kaylen too tired to smile

More close up pic of the cake

Butter cookies for Teacher's Day

Jared is getting very familiar with baking, he can handle the mixer quite well, and sift the flour properly.

Taste yummiest of all times I had done before..as I followed recipe exactly, and did not cut short and do without mixer. The buttery taste just like the round tin danish cookies..

Recipe from happyhome baking, baked at 180C, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Ingredients:

(makes about 36 pieces)

100g butter, softened at room temperature

80g caster sugar

1 egg yolk

180g cake flour

20g corn flour

Method:

Sift cake flour and corn flour together and set aside. Line baking tray with parchment paper, set aside.

With an electric mixer, add in sugar to the butter in 2 ~3 additions and cream till the mixture turns pale and fluffy.

Add in egg yolk and mix well.

Add sifted flour mixture in 2 ~ 3 additions, stir with a spatula to form a soft dough.

Place dough in a plastic bag and flatten with rolling pin.

Refrigerate the dough for about half an hour.

Remove dough from fridge. Roll out dough on slightly floured work surface and cut out with slightly floured cookie cutters. If the dough appears to be a little to hard and breaks into pieces while rolling, leave it at room temperature for a few minutes. The dough will soften up and can be rolled easily.

Bake at pre-heated oven at 175 degC for 15 ~ 20mins.

Let cool and store in air-tight container.

The packaging...only can give 4 piece cookies per teacher..the card  & wrapper were from daiso..

Pineapple upside down cake

Recipe from peng's kitchen
Cake was too wet direct from oven. But the next day, the moistness was just nice..We cleared off the whole cake in 2 days..wonderful butter rich taste. and Jared loves the pineapple.

Cake cutting...Jared's fav

Koko feeding meimei. Usually it is the other way round..cos he is always lazy to eat, while Kaylen is more independent..so I usually will asked her to remember to feed koko some fruits while she eats them..hah.So that koko poo poo won't be hard.

Ingredients

Butter for greasing

2 tbsp sugar

6 slices canned pineapples

45ml pineapple juice

11 glace cherries

100gm flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda

100gm soft butter

70gm sugar

2 eggs

Method

Grease the base of a 8" cake tin (neither loose-bottomed nor springform).

Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of sugar on top of the buttered base, and then arrange the pineapple slices to make a circular pattern.

Fill each pineapple ring with a glace cherry, and then dot one in each of the spaces in between.

Cream butter & sugar until light. Beat in eggs one at a time until combined.

Sieve over flour, baking powder & baking soda till evenly mixed. Stir in pineapple juice.

Spread cake batter over pineapple rings.

Bake in preheated oven oven at 160 deg cel for 30-35 minutes. Cool slightly. Loosen the edge with a knife, place a plate on top and flip over to unmould the cake.
