Self Feed or 羊吃草?

It's one of the very rare moments that Jared willing to try out self feed. Look at how particular he is? Wanna choose type of spoon to use...and of cos as long as he is willing to eat we don't mind.

三字经

Jared is able to recite his 三字经 pretty well now. And till very very far, so many lines that both daddy and me don't know..We both probaly can recite up to line #10?

When ever Jared starts to recite, he'll do the whole poem, he won't stop in between...and He recite them in his baby tone..very very cute..Wished I have the chance to video it down...but he will only tell us when his mood is good. Words in purple I've heard him reciting (by 22mth), green probaly not yet..need to check with my mum.

Other than 三字经, he's also able to do some other poem ....the Chao Chao's famous 3 step..etc

New Camera Doesn't Come Easy

Why? The Kiam Siap me wanna get the cheapest camera with the best function wide angle, 3inch LCD, slim, good quality picture, anti shake...and the list go on. Shortlisted f a few Sony's T100, Canon 860.


Also die die must used the $500 voucher from Harvey Norman. When HV first had it, they are retailing them at $799 while Sim Lim only at $500+...Finally there was a sale in HV, offering at $599...we cheong there. When we were queuing to pay for it, to my surprise the cashier said promotion item cannot use voucher..My heart sank hehehe...but eventually the sales person settled for us..and only paid $99...So happy with the buy..


Presenting Fujifilm F50FD, just released on September..and we got it finally from Harvey Norman Centerpoint branch on 29 September.



It fulfilled few requirements anti shake, good quality picture..but only had 2.7inch screen and wide angle and also not slim

Happy Mid Autumn!

On the actual Mid Autumn Festival we went Shuang Lin Temple to enjoy festive mood..They gave out free mooncake (all kinds of them), tea, fruits and yam.

We could see the lights and big balloon from Whampoa home. Eversince the balloon was up, Jared wants us to carry and watch the temple by the window. He would exclaimed "Beautiful" everytime he saw it.

When Jared saw moon, he would say

How daring?

Brought Jared to void deck to play with lantern & Little firework(Dunno what's that actual name)...See how daring he was? Me was kam cheong and keep shouting any moment Jared brought the firework closer, he would swing the lantern nobody's biz.

If he wanna ask 太婆 to sleep, he'll say 我睡觉, then my grandma will misunderstood him and keep pull him by the bed to sleep. hehe

But for English since he don't know I or me, so he'll start his sentence with "Jared ..."

Jared is really creative and funny in answering our question, a lot of times we got so surprised with what he could said now.

Impatient/Inconsiderate
Everytime we bring Jared to makan, we usually buy his food and feed him first. Once he's full, he will yell " Go Home!"
At that point of time usually we hardly started our food yet

Perfectionist
-Toy cars will be arrange to "park" in a straight line and no one can disturb his creation.
-Gate/ Wardrobe cannot be left open, need to shut down nicely
-Need to kiap both side of shoe nicely with 1 hand before can put on shoe rack

Timid
Need to drag daddy/mummy along everywhere and everything along..

爱美
Very scared if his teeth drop. If anyone tease that his teeth drop or with black stain, he will dash to the mirror to check. Even how much he dislike brushing teeth, if being threaten that teeth will drop, eventually he will open mouth to let us brush

Happy
The house is always warm with his laughter and voice..

Kay Poh
Jared is interested in every thing adult do, always want to imitate. So his good in swiping/wiping the floor now.

Ugly but Tasty

My peach teacake extracted from a posting from SMH sometime ago..finally decided to give it a try this weekend...Becos I've not seen any cake that require baking for 45mins..I stopped the microwave after 29mins...and got scolded by Daddy and threaten not going to try my cake..hehe..But finally he could not resist leh, took it as lunch, and of cos the comment was nice..peach is nice..hehe.



As for Jared, same as daddy leh, refused to take the cake, but like the peach a lot...He was yelling "mummy bake cake" when I brought the cake to him and daddy in the play room.

1 can of peaches
1/2 cup sugar**
1 cup self-rising flour
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 eggs
150 g butter (unsalted)

Note : oven to be pre-heated to 180 degree celsius

**you can lessen the sugar amount and add in some syrup leftover from the canned peaches, and in which case, you should add a little more flour

Steps :
- Grease the baking pan with some butter, and dust with some flour. Lay the peach halves into the pan
- In a bowl, add the eggs, sugar, butter and vanilla essence
- whisk the ingredients till light & fluffy
- Add the flour (sift it)
- Fold the flour in, and mix thoroughly
- Spread the mix over the peaches, even out
- Bake at 180 degree celsius for 45 mins . The pretty patterns on the surface are due to lesser batter that sit over where the peaches are, so if you want your cake to look pretty, arrange the peach halves well (Mine don't have pretty pattern, only crack surface.hehe, nevertheless it still taste good!)
- Remove from oven, and serve with hot custard or something cold, like vanilla ice-cream

A day with Jared alone

Another 3 more days to cleared, so I took 1 more day today to spend with Jared. Was alone handling Jared from 8am to 10pm...Daddy got home late only around 10pm that day.

Morning, Jared was too bored...and on and off cried due to pek chek..hehe..So I brought him to walk walk at NTUC and makan 2nd round of breakfast with me. The Sun Plaza's Chee Cheong Fun is my favourite...Has been thinking how to dine alone with Jared and stroller..Not bad, things went off smoothly. I push jared to the stall and ordered my food, and get a seat nearby. Left Jared sitting in his stroller while I collect my food..Then back at table put him on the high chair. To my dismay he was too full with breakfast at home..and started yelling go home!!...So I anyhow finish the Chee chong fun and go NTUC loh.

Then in the afternoon, I managed to take a short 30min nap before leaving for Causeway point...Actually I asked jared if he wanna go causeway point or library..He asked in return, Library 有什麽? But finally I decided to go Causeway point , cos we get to take MRT and it's another challenge. Jared loves to take MRT, demand to sit on his own...and when I told him we getting down soon, he was fine to let me put him back into stroller.

I managed to buy something and even go into dressing room with him..He asked me "谁的家" and I had to tell him it's not a home..hehe. After a while he fell asleep, and we went to MOS burger to have ice tea.

Quite happy with my achievement..hehe..although I almost make him fall during getting down the escalator.

Copycat - Why?

Saw so many kakis privatise their blog..I'm tempted to do so as well.

Reading: Good Habit

Jared loves to read, while both his daddy & mummy stop reading books ever since we graduated....So we are not so good in choosing books. I love this website..So many good books with review. Found the link thru Cath's blog.

Recently Jared refused to drink his last milk feed in our room..I had to use books to lure him.

That's how I manage to get him into our room and read books to him. hehe.

He loves hungry caterpillar book, and so far can read the 1st page on his own
In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf. Happened to know he could read after my mum told us that he offered to read to wai gong.

Can also recognise and read all the food caterpillar eat, plum, strawberry, chocalate cake, lollipop, salami, cup cake, cherry pie, cheese, etc (I forgot) hehe.

Wonderful holidays..

I’ve been busy clearing leaves this 2 mth…6 days need to be clear by 30 Sept. So far left another 3 days. Since we not going on holidays (sad)…so I take 0.5 or 1 day per wk.

Days which we didn’t bring Jared home, I would bring him to Whampoa Market to have breakfast with my grandma. . I loved to bring him there and watching him eat outside food. He has been resistant to outside food for quite a while till recently willing to try kuey tiow. Sometimes he was willing to walk, sometimes need us to carry..But the journey won’t be easy..a lot of times I felt my arms gonna break..hehe..
There was 1 event which I forced Jared to walk, end up he fell down and scratch his knees....So guilty. hehehe

Today I took whole day leave again. Since my home computer spoilt, we can’t go home (my job need computer). Again brought Jared to market to take breakfast. Then today he refused chee chiong fun..I thought he was full with just 1 choc love letter before this. Later my grandma realized he wanna self feed. So let him sit on his own and self feed mee tai mak.

I bet this was the first time I watched him self feed seriously. All previous attempt were to play with food. Too bad I didn’t bring any camera..missed the first self feed episode.
And to prevent my arms break or he fell down, I used a stroller to transport him hehe..Much wonderful trip with the stroller…

After breakfast, I brought to him to play at the playground..Spend quite sometime there..Jared was pointing to me 百云..and we enjoyed the breeze very much.

Help? Or Trouble?

Definitely troubles..hehehe..

Jared's 1st hands on cooking making...He loved making it till the stage refused to let us touch the star dough..

So we gave up, and bring him else where instead. hehe.

Maybe next time when he's older we'll try again...

Zoo again after long break

It was our target to visit the zoo monthly to make sure our $ spent on the passes worth. But due to daddy's busy work, this round it was almost 2 month gap.

The day before zoo, when we told Jared the decision..He said he want to see the zebra and giraffe. Even describe how giraffe look like to us...Tall, long long (neck)...

Graduation: 1st Term at Jg

Phew~ We managed to survive the whole 10 lessons. Till now Jared is still very reserve in class, refuse to talk to teacher when being asked, refused to hug teacher etc etc. Occasionally throw tantrum especially during the 2nd part of lesson.

This was the last lesson-party day and we were supposed to bring some food to share among the adults and kids. I didn't have time to make the butter cookies so just got some "madeline" from delifrance instead. Also didn't manage to get party clothings for Jared, so kena scolding from daddy lah! Daddy missed the previous lesson so didn't know of the special clothings requirement.

A bit dissapointed as Teacher Meera & Serene wasn't around to distribute the portfolio..Teacher Meera's daughter was admitted to hospital, while Serene MIA hehe. Instead the senior teacher, Raihan was there. Jared was calling Raihan "aunty" at the end of the class..hehehe..

Easy Butter Cookie

My first attempt of cookies baking.

This is just too easy...and yield a lot of cookies too. So much that I need to bake them in 3 batches, the first batch of cookies turned out very "fair", and taste like scone (soft inside)..2nd batch when I increased the timing...the cookies looked so much nicer.

Even Kee Ping and my mum agreed that it taste nice! So happy..



1 Egg

2 cups of flour

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp vannila essense

150g unsalted butter

1/2 cup sugar

2 tbs milk

1) Mix the soften butter with sugar and vanilla essense till fluffy.

2) Add in the egg and milk to mix together

3) Sift the flour in and mix till a nice dough

4) Bake at 220C Convectional mode for 15mins and after that Top grill for 3mins

Talking non stop - be it baby talk or what we could understand. Sometimes I need to tell Jared, mummy ear pain pain, can you stop talking for a while ? heheh

Our Photoshoot Experience
Almost couldn't make it for this photoshoot. Daddy worked all the way and back only about 8am that morning and the photoshoot was sheduled at 10-12am. In fact, he has been working non stop since Wed. I didn't pack up for the shoot till the night before..imagine I need to iron clothes at 12am...and worst, left my own attire-the white blouse & jeans at my mum's place. So after daddy got home, we went to my mum's place to get change...

David was okay..not as scary as I thought he would be..When we reached there, he asked us to relax, and spend some time to get to know Jared. Also turned on some nursery rhyme to make Jared relax. Unfortunately Jared bochup with all his acts..Concentrate on playing the toys there. Almost don't want to get into the shooting area, till David move the table in. So most of our shoot contain the red table..hehe..But after I crop the pics, it turn out pretty nice liao..

David concentrate a lot on making Jared smile & look into the camera...so we didn't have much nice family shoot as in Benjamin's time. But turned out Jared has many many nice individual shots...which just need some editing here & there...

Anyway, the whole session was pretty awkward..and I felt heart pain of spending so much $ to force Jared do something he don't like..But after I do the collage, hmmm..I was asking myself, when's the next shoot? hehehe.
