Disney Cookies




I first got this in the initial phase of my baking fever..I wanted these mold so much after I saw beautiful cookies in some baking blogs..and finally found them on yahooauction/ebay.
Right after I collected so many cookies character, I lost my interest in baking cookies......

Till this weekend..

See how many so many beautiful cookies I've got with daddy and Jared's help
Daddy in charge of preparing the dough..He mixed the sugar and butter..and got Jared's help to sieve the floor..and Finally I came in when daddy gave up on the dough, cos too dry..hehe

Jared had so much fun tracing the cookies..

The End of Abacus Class..




When we enrolled, the cc staff said need the pre-requisite for the class is to be able to know numbers 0-9. Since Jared knew 0-100...we thought he will absolutely have no problem with the class.




On the first day of class, then we realised so many big kor kor and jie jie in the class..some is already not using abacus..and only use fingers to do counting..
Then the course actually need the kids to be able to write 0-9...so Jared had to practise so hard everyday at home.

Still he refused to do worksheet in class..so he'll come back with empty work sheet everyday...The teacher had already finished working through such a thick worksheet with the kids..but Jared one still stay at the first few page.

So finally, teacher told my mum...he's improving but still too young..come again next year....So that's it! That's the end of the class

Luckily he would still do the worksheet at home..under some supervision. When he is in the mood, he could be left alone on the table to finish the sum by himselF

This include reading the nos., moving around beads on the abacus..and read final beads, and write out the no. at the square of the worksheet.

We plan to slowly let him complete the worksheet, then next yr enrol again in the same level...and continue from there..A lesson learnt from being so kiasu, wasted $...heh

Hiccup in class
1) One fine day he decided he don't want to attend class, keep crying want to go home. So my mum told him if he go home do writing, then can go home..else got to stay in school. So he really go home and do lots of writing..till he said he'll go to class the next day.

2) Big accident...he poo in the class at his desk..Oh dear, being a cleanliness freak, he had never had accident with the poo..The last happened was last yr in US, when he couldnt control and poo in diaper..He cried and stand all the way back home. It really caught me surprise ..but the weekend before he had major constipation, so his tummy hasn't been feeling alright.

Teacher called daddy to get my mum to help clean up ...While talking to the teacher, daddy could hear the kids say...eeeee.....then when my mum reach, Jared asked her..why is everybody covering their nose with the hand? after she brought him downstair to clean up and go back to class the pick up stuff, he asked again..Why is the window all open? (both question in mandarin)
Before he left, he apologised to the teacher and kids...Poor guy!..hehe..

I was worried he will never go to class anymore after being laugh by other kids..But he was fine..He still say want to go to class the next day...


Everything went well the next day..

3) In the last day, they had a party.Teacher told that Jared sing song for everybody in front of the class during the party... *I faint, when did he ever been so daring*

Safe? Cooling...H1N1 free...Where?

never I need to think so much other than $ before booking for a holiday..

This year we had no gone anywhere..just when we trying to plan for a place..but this H1N1 just don't go away..and got so bad that Kaylen's bb show at Woodlands cc next month is cancelled!!!

Tokyo has always been the next in list of places we wanted to go, being there a disneyland...

But it just don't go away from the H1N1 list..arrgghh..

Next..NZ? It has been 11 yrs now..though we said we will go back by 10yr ...But the ticket is 1.4k!!!

Tokyo..$380..wow..amazing fares!

After 3 full weeks of hardwork...


Jared could now write

Now he has less phobia on writing...and can follow new dots word easily.
How was it before this?


Nightmare..


He has a lot of phobia holding pencil..and always keep saying he cant follow the line, can't write...especially those curvy like P.


Everytime when its time to do some writing, he will always look at the clock, say 9 o'clock..a little while, next time..


or pretend to be very tired, couldn't sit straight, lie his head on the table or hide under the table ..anything can be his excuse.


My shout, pinch, beat..is useless to him..Finally i could not take it..and shut him in a dark room with me..Let him cry and cry and cry for half hour that night.


Actually at that moment i also gave up and wanna conclude that he is not ready..but amazing things does happen..and at the same time abacus class just started. In his abacus class, teacher emphasize on writing 0-9, so he roughly get an idea, then when come home with practise, he manage to learn the nos within 2 wks. Then after he could write the nos, other alphabet is not so intimidating anymore.


Still he always gets cheeky nowadays, ask him to follow the eg we wrote for 0-9. While writing no. 2, he could wrote as "p" or "g" or "B"


Ask him to write capital "A"...he write all small letter "a"..
He has not write his own name yet.....looking forward to that day...and looking forward for self made Happy Birthday card from him.

some kids pic


Jared had a major constipation, did not eat or drink from 11pm the previous nite till 2pm the next day...pato on the bed all the time....till I threaten to call ambulance...Then he started eating....After a kiwifruit, a cup of cereal with milk, yakult..He finally poo at 4pm...And immediately...he was energized..and can walk around already!


Got daddy to bring bid for Kaylen for dinner..he lazy, so asked me to take off her clothes instead.

The baker..Jared and mummy..Almost rock bun



The almost rock bun which turned out to be chocolate chip cookies..still tasted quite good..


It was made by Jared and me!..



Jared could never pose well on camera now..! He like the cookies he made..so had quite a few of them..

The kids with Gwenetth ...Jared had a great time following the jie jie around, and mimic what she do..when he saw her eat on her own, he also want to eat on his own..refuse ppl feed..

Swimming..the culprit that make her sick for 1 whole wk!





It's Kaylen 9 mth old day..the day she finally get to have her 2nd dip at the pool..1st time didn't went well at Ritz..so that explain why such a long wait before next dip..
This round she really enjoyed it..smiling, enjoy being pull every where by kor kor..not scared at all..
But the next day we started feeling her having little fever...and 2days later, Monday..the fever has all the way tilll 39.8degree...Daddy was really kam cheong, so we both took half day leave to bring her to see Pd...and the fever continues for another few days..with every morning raise all the way till 39degree..
She couldn't take in milk or solid...but thankfully she loves water..so survive on water..and I love Dr. Ong..he told us she would get well by Thurs..amazingly..her fever really goes down by Thurs..But after that, was the false measles..which make her face messy..hehe..


Headaches


Abacus class

First two lesson went well, though he was the youngest kid in class..so we were being branded as "kiasu" to send a kid who can't even write yet..hehe..

The rest of kids mostly in k1,k2 or p1. Jessica who's our neighbour also attending the class, she's k2 already.

So he had to sit with 2 chair and sit together with teacher right in front of the class..

He could grab the concept of abacus, how to do 1-9, 1+1, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5, etc on the abacus. But being the youngest in the class the teacher does not test him at the end of class. And there's quite a lot of worksheet to be completed in the class. Other than writing no. 1-9 which he could not do, he could do the matching pretty well. But sometimes kid sit beside him would help do his worksheet after see him so slow...that's not really good..

I like the class a lot..cos it make math much simpler..in next few lessons, he would be able to do single digit sums for eg

6-2+4
7-5+1
2+3+5


These type...If i had to teach heart counting... i thk i would hv vomitted blood already. But with the abacus, moving around with beads..it is so much easier..

How do I know? I learnt it from his worksheet, and work thru the sums hehehe.
though he couldn't write nos. he don't seemed to be stress out with it, and he talk to teacher a lot..and still enjoy going to the class...

One thing I could not expect him is that to come back with the worksheet all filled up with his calculation and how long he needs to complete the sums, just because HE COULDN't WRITE!...arrrrgghhh..

Why is writing just a few nos. so diff to him? aiyo..


Violin
Finally the school called me up as they are gonna smaller size violin to come in...After brought him to school to take the measurement, I have 2nd thought of starting him so early..and starting with Violin. The school principal said it will be very boring to start with violin as they can't do anything until they hold the violin properly with the bow. Then it seems that his hands are so small to press the strings...And also the high cost in starting the course...Deposit,school fees, and instruments would cost $350...Argghhh..If he like it never mind..if he throw the violin..i'm gonna faint...

But when we were there, he seemed to be really interested with the violin...when teacher ask him to hold he would hold it..

Now I'm having 2nd thought to let him start only next year, only if he could write...but what if he has more own ideas, becoming more naughty? then jia lat too.

The violin fees is at $100 for 4 lessons, each lesson 30min only.
Abacus is $120 for 10 lessons, each lesson 1.5hr ..amazing he could sit through the 1.5hr happily yeah?

Kaylen is 9mth old

Feeding
-> still on breastmilk..and total bf yay!
My milk has slowly went back to normal range although not as good as peak period...still it's enough to cover her needs. She still take only 4oz per feed. With 2 solid intake, no problem to meet her daily needs.


Over the month she had tried salmon, chye sim, cheese and yogurt. Jared loves her baby yogurt...open big mouth to eat.

She could self feed herself grape, and bite off the flesh to eat on her own..




Physical
-> Like to pull herself up and stand...anything that she could grab hold of, she would just try to stand up
-> Crawl in all 4s..but not very far distance, she only crawl around the bumper playmat to sofa, or around the bed..



Hmmm..as i'm writing this she's has got high fever for 3-4 days already..Right after her 9mth old day when she go swimming..
Her weight is down to 7.9kg from 8.3kg...lost all the chubbiness as a result of no appetite for milk and food..only drink water..
She loves water, and hates milk...somehow even refuse to latch on.

It's exciting when your child's scribbles begin to look more like real letters. Some threes even start writing their name, or a few letters of it. But writing is one of those developmental milestones that varies greatly from child to child. Don't stress out if your child isn't even interested in writing.
A lot depends on fine motor development. Your child may have a clear dominant hand by now (or it may not be clear for another year or so). But it's still hard to control a pencil to make letters with diagonal lines (M, N, K). Other letters may not look quite right either. The lines might not connect at the right place, or letters like E may have too many horizontal lines. What kids should be able to do at this age is copy a circle and make an "x."
Regardless of where your child is on the spectrum, encourage his writing by keeping paper, fat pencils, fat crayons, and chalk within easy reach. Another way to pique interest: Pour sand, salt, or sugar onto a tray and show him how to trace letters with a finger.

Name Writing
Don't panic if you notice some kids at preschool writing their names while your child doesn't even recognize the letter his name starts with. When kids learn to write is highly variable, and this year the spread will widen. Your child's progress depends on gender (girls gain the needed fine motor control sooner), the length of his name (Eli will have an easier time than, say, Zachariah), and what else is going on developmentally.

Sad to say Jared could not write at all now at 3.5yr. Ever since the meet the parents session, he has been forced real often to start writing..But he just don't seem to like to sit still to trace the letters, and worst he think words other "1" is difficult..and prefer to write the chinese "1,2,3" since only lines are involved.

As parents am really feeling so stressed about it, He seemed to be far away from his peers now..haiz.
I really wonder if its a boy / gal thing that make him start writing so slow..
